Twilight of Life
By Gary Ramsey
As the sun majestically descends,
it casts a warm and loving embrace,
A lifetime of gathered wisdom
etched on each weathered face.
The shadows always lengthen,
but the spirit stays warm and bright,
Old age is always a testament
to life's wonderous enduring light.
Each wrinkle tells a treasured story
of laughter, hope, and tears,
Of triumphs, dreams, and defeats,
and overcoming lifelong fears.
The passage of our precious time
always has only served to reveal,
The resilience of the human spirit
with its unending, unyielding zeal.
The cool and uplifting evening breeze
whispers tales of the long lost past,
Of love eternally found and lost,
and friendships that forever last.
Old age is an intricate tapestry
woven within the threads of time,
A masterpiece of storied experiences,
both bitter, sweet, and sublime.
The sun-kissed beautiful horizon
paints a portrait of life so grand,
Just like the beloved legacy
we leave heartfelt upon this land.
Though the body may infinitely tire
and the steps may constantly slow,
The spirit grows continually stronger,
In our life’s unwavering glow.
In the quiet shadows of twilight,
we find peaceful solace and rest,
Reflecting on the long journey,
feeling our hearts truly blessed.
Old age is a wonderful treasure
of life’s hard earned grace,
A time to savor each moment,
in this serene and hallowed space.
So let the gracious sunset of life
be a thing of peace and beauty,
A symphony of picturesque colors,
a testament to never-ending duty.
For in the gracious twilight years,
we find our silent true measure,
A lifetime of collected wisdom,
a boundless and lasting treasure.
